rockport

obwohl wir viel reisen, berichte ich hier ja eher selten über hotels. dabei sehen wir wirklich so einige, wenn wir so richtig unterwegs sind. so wie in diesem sommer in NEUENGLAND auf unserem roadtrip, wo wir alle paar tage woanders abgestiegen sind. das liegt aber einfach daran, dass die unterkunft in unseren urlauben nicht zwingend ein highlight sein muss. schließlich sind wir den ganzen tag unterwegs und nur zum schlafen dort. ausladender luxus wäre da komplette verschwendung. also sehen wir das thema auch ganz pragmatisch…. es soll natürlich schon nett, muss aber auch nichts besonderes sein. so ergibt es sich einfach, dass die meisten unterkünfte, in denen wir so absteigen, einfach nicht wirklich erwähnenswert sind. ABER…

altough we travel a lot, i rarely write about our hotels. actually we see a lot of accomodations on our vacations. especially when we are on a roadtrip like this summer in NEW ENGLAND, because that means we change our places to stay quite often. well, as a matter of fact we don’t take the hotel-question too serious. after all we are on tour all day and just come in to get some sleep. we don’t need much luxury, but only a proper and clean place to sleep. so most of the accomodations we stay at are not really worth mentioning here on the blog. BUT…

… nichtsdestotrotz habe ich bei der planung immer ein bisschen den daumen drauf, dass wenigstens EINMAL  irgendwann irgendwo auf einer längeren tour ein richtig schmuckes hotel oder appartment haben. das finde ich dann sehr wohl erwähnens- und auch teilenswert… das QUARTERDECK INN BY THE SEA in ROCKPORT, massachussetts war so ein bezauberndes new england B&B!

… once in a while i insist on booking something really nice. because i think at least one hotel on a long trip should be something special. places like that are worth mentioning… like the cute B&B we stayed at in ROCKPORT, massachussetts, it was the QUARTERDECK INN BY THE SEA!

mein näschen bei der buchung hatte recht gehabt. die lage direkt an der bucht mit sicht auf das fischerstädtchen rockport, der atemberaubende blick auf das meer, das leicht plüschige, gemütliche interieur… all das passte einfach und war volle pulle neuengland! wir hatten das einzige zimmer im obergeschoss mit einer ganzen, langen fensterreihe in richtung wasser. das fräulein war ebenfalls komplett begeistert, rannte smartphone-knipsend durch die gegend und beschlagnamte gleich das bett mit der meisen-tagesdecke. auch, wenn wir uns hier wieder einmal fast nur zum schlafen aufhielten, musste selbst herr p. zugeben, dass die ausicht vom bett aus so ziemlich unschlagbar war. 

the feeling i had when booking this place was just right. the location at the bay overlooking the pretty fishing town rockport, the breathtaking view over the ocean, the kinda plush and cozy interior… everything was perfectly fitting my image of new england style. we had the upper floor all for our own. the room has a row of windows overlooking the sea. the little fräulein was all over the moon, ran around excitedly taking smartphone pictures and occupied the bed with the lovely birdy cover. as always we didn’t spent that much time here. but even mr. p. had to admit that he never had such gorgeous view from the bed.

am frühen morgen konnte man dann beim zähneputzen den hummerfischern bei der arbeit zusehen. sie holten direkt vor unserem fenster die fangkäfige ein… und wer weiß vielleicht hatten wir sogar einen von genau diesen hummern abends im restaurant auf unserem teller.

next early morning we could watch lobster fishing while brushing our teeth. the fisherman were lobstering  right in front of our windows… and maybe they cought the lobsters we had on our plate at the restaurant that evening.

unsere zauberhafte unterkunft war aber bei weitem nicht der einzige grund, warum ich mich ganz unerwartet heftig in ROCKPORT auf CAPE ANN verliebt habe. ich zeige euch nächste woche noch ein bisschen mehr von diesem städtchen. dann werdet ihr verstehen. 

but our adorable B&B wasn’t the only reason why i fell in love with the little town of rockport at CAPE ANN so unexpectedly. i’ll show you more pics from here next week and you’ll probably understand.
